Creative Group Meeting June 6, 2012

June 6, 2012
Creative Group minutes
Present: Nancy, Jeff, Rich, Lisa, Bill, Diana, Michael

Discussions
• The library will post library events to the new community calendar “Topeka 365” which is a collaborative effort of many Topeka organizations, including ArtsConnect and Visit Topeka. Kathy Smith, ArtsConnect director, maintains the site.
We will list Topeka365 in our Community Information catalog. Jeff will provide info to the Community Info staff about Topeka365. Lisa will blog about the new listing.

Lisa and Nancy will identify the events that will be listed on this calendar. Programs that require registration and are a series will not be included, to avoid confusion (Tot Time and Sneek, Peak and Read are what comes to mind.)

We are working with Kari to secure a volunteer that will enter our data on this calendar and other venues.

• On the Summerfest Reading Sign-up page, we will link to Read Kansas Read is a program designed by Governor Brownback to encourage reading this summer. He has partnered with the KS Dept. of Ed and the State Library on this project, that rewards the top two readers from each of the ten Board of Ed districts to a picnic at Cedar Crest in August.

We will move the Summer Reading from the three-pack to the billboard marquee to push for signup now that the software is working properly.

Our followers on Pinterest have requested we have a Summerfest board. There needs to be some coordination on what will be posted and by whom. Jeff will get the Pinterest group to work on this, and Diana is available to help with ideas as needed, like posting blogs go along with the graphics C&M have created.

• The Facebook link is returning to the home page footer.

• The QR code is going away.

• The ebooks for libraries petition drive is at 8626, so we need to really push to get to our 10,000 signee. We will be posting New York Public Library’s initiative for ebooks today, and sending a news release out to the local media. Jeff will help get this information on KanLib.

Next week: David is setting agenda/taking notes/send items to him. Kids Page & Bookmobile pages will be reviewed.

Just for clarification, the Jeff mentioned here is the younger, more technologically adept, and Polaris savvy, Jeff Tate.
