Art Auction to Celebrate TSCPL 150th Anniversary

Celebrate the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library’s 150th Anniversary by owning a piece of art. The library’s Alice C. Sabatini Gallery is the oldest public art collection in Topeka.  Recently the library reviewed the collection and will allow some items to find a new home. If you love art, love the library and want to support the gallery, this is your opportunity.

The library has been collecting art for over 100 years.  This is the first time YOU have an opportunity to own a piece (or two) of it.  Over the years we have been given so many wonderful pieces of art.  After over 100 years, we are running out of room!  The curators have been very busy culling the collection. The art was donated to benefit the library.  The proceeds from the sale will enable the library and gallery to prepare for the future.

Soulis Auctions from Kansas City, Missouri, will conduct an online art auction December 4 and 5.  Some of the art from the library’s collection will be part of this sale.  Not all the art in the sale is from the library, so be sure to view item description to see if it is a library item.  If you are only interested in the art from the library, see the pdf consignment list for each date.

Looking through the catalog, it appears the easiest way to find all of the former library items is by doing a keyword search of “Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library” since they are all listed as Provenance: Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library. The two auctions they’re in are linked above.
