The Topeka & Shawnee County Sports Hall of Fame is going to be moved back to the walls in the Sports and Leisure Neighborhood in the southwest corner of the west wing.
The first phase of this project is going to be the hanging of local sports memorabilia which have been donated by all of the Shawnee County high schools and Washburn University. The hope is that this will give the Topeka Sports Hall of Fame more of a “Hall of Fame” feel. Maintenance is going to start hanging the display cases the jerseys and other items will be displayed in next week.
The second phase of the project will be the hanging of a digital monitor in this same area which will have the pictures and descriptions of the members of the Hall of Fame. This will replace the ever growing number of pictures that are hanging on the wall, although the new inductees each year will still have their pictures displayed honoring their first year of membership. This will not happen until this summer.
I just wanted to give everyone a heads up, because its likely people will see all of this happening and have questions. If there are questions you don’t know how to answer, feel free to direct those to me, and if you have any other questions please let me know.
