Tax Info – 2022 Edition

I know people are always anxious and start asking questions about tax forms and services at this time of year.

JANUARY 26TH UPDATE: I have UPS shipping notices for the Federal tax forms and instructions.
The instruction booklets may be here Friday, January 28th (in the afternoon). The 1040 forms should be here by Monday, January 31st.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) will be available at the library February 1 through April 14 during the 2022 tax season. The VITA program offers free basic tax return preparation to qualified individuals.

Hours: Tuesdays 6-8:30 pm | Thursdays 9 am-6 pm

Sign up begins at 7:30 am each day that VITA is at the library. Customers will sign up with the VITA volunteer and then return for their appointment.

For more information about VITA, contact the Shawnee County Extension Office at  785-232-0062.

The Shawnee County Extension office should post more details about the VITA tax preparation sites on their website when they are ready.

I will post updates to as soon as I get them. That page also has helpful contact information for the area tax related agencies.

The main message right now would be to check back later, as we are still waiting on shipments or more information from other agencies 🙂

Happy Tax Season!

Deb Ellerbrook, Public Services
