Overdrive/Bibliocommons error “an error occurred and your request could no be completed”

We are having multiple reports of people getting this error message when trying to check out Overdrive e-books  “an error occurred and your request could not be completed” It seems to be occurring when they are checking out from our regular library website/catalog, instead of our Overdrive website.

We are suggesting that patrons try going to our Overdrive website, https://tscpl.overdrive.com/ and then try completing the checkout there.  At that website (after logging in with your library card and PIN), they should be able to go to My Account, Loans, and then see the items they have checked out.  They’ll have the option to “read now with Kindle” for sending it to a Kindle, or “read now in browser” to read it on the computer.  This method seems to have worked with some of our other patrons who have gotten this error message.  Using the Overdrive APP or Libby APP on their device should hopefully work as well.

    11/3/2020 UPDATE: BiblioCommons Support states they have deployed a fix to this issue with Overdrive downloads. Customers will now be able to download and view OverDrive titles as before.
