Team Room/Remote Learner Sign Up Changes

Beginning on Thursday October 1, 2020, customers wanting to use a Team Room or a space for Remote Learning need to sign up in the Team Room area.  We are moving this from the Customer Service desk.

Team Rooms 1-3 and 6-8 are for general group use and can be used for the 2-hour limit only.  If the rooms are not busy you can extend it for 1 hour to a maximum of 3 hours. Don’t disable SAM on the Team Rooms for general use.
The staff person will sign up these Team Rooms through SAM on the laptop. Remember we are allowing customers to use guest passes to sign up for the Team Rooms currently.  The 9:00 am team room person should print several guest passes either at the Customer Service desk or the Media desk.

Remote Learners
Team Room 4 & 5 are for families and students doing remote learning between 9:00-3:00 weekdays.  Staff will disable SAM for those rooms because students will bring their devices.  Disabling SAM for TR 4 &5 also allows us to extend the use for the full school day.  Additional rooms for remote learning only are Make It Lab 1 & 2 located in the Media room. Families and students will sign up manually on a clipboard with the staff person overseeing the Team Room space.    If all those spaces are not available students are welcome to use the tables in Team Room open space, The Learning Center and David J’s.
Once you sign a student up for the Make It Lab 1 or 2, please either escort them to the Media room or use Zello on the phone to let staff know a student is coming over.  It is also okay to ask the Wings person to help if you are busy.

Hi all, just an FYI — we added temporary signage to all of the rooms this morning. Also, the two Make-It Lab keys are in the service point in Media labeled Old and New (they’re hanging on the inside of the service point door).

Oh, and I just realized some of you might not know which is the New Make-It Lab and which is the Old! The New Make-It Lab is the one closest to the Learning Center, in the southeast part of the room. The Old Make-It Lab is in the northwest part of the room, between Media computers 1 and 2.

If an individual wants a room for a Zoom meeting, for example, what will we suggest?

Good question. The Team Rooms right now are available on a first come first served basis. If there is a Team Room available and an individual needs to attend a Zoom meeting then it is considered a group meeting. We have already done this on a few occasions this summer.

Also, per Marie’s email earlier this week, this is a first-come/first-served procedure and the group must make the reservation when they need it and in person. So, this means no phone calls or phone transfers to the Team Room staff person to make reservations, or in-person sign-up for the next day or any other day that week. Is this still correct? With KCDC and Zoo passes people have called the Call Center to ask if there are any available that day and I can see that happening here…

I have a question: if John and Jane Doe want to come in and use John’s laptop together for something that isn’t remote learning, are they supposed to be in 1-3/6-8 and STILL sign in on the computer or do we put them in 4 or 5?
And on the weekends, do we re-enable 4 and 5 to just be a Team Room, first come first serve?
