Here are the basics for the reading incentive portion of SummerFest for 2017.
Start registration: Monday, May 1
Start: Thursday, June 1
End Monday, July 31
People can participate with paper trackers or online. All information must be put into the online system by 11:59 PM on July 31.
We are utilizing Read Squared as our online system again this year.
The link will be at tscpl.org/summerfest.
THE COMMUNITY GOAL is 3,000,000 (three million) minutes.
Changes:
20 minutes per day over 60 days of summer is 1,200 minutes (20 hours) of reading.g
- This supports I Read 20, which many schools use.
- This creates consistent messaging all year round.
The trackers for ages 3-adult are virtually the same, a calendar format. The one difference is that adults do not get incremental prizes.
- This makes distribution easier.
- There is less confusion because directions are the same for each.
- It promotes the idea that reading habits are life-long.
