COVID-19 Updates

With the Holidays approaching us we want to share some guidelines for travel, and safety practices.

Travel

From this time forward, if you plan to travel out of state or internationally, you must notify your supervisor and human resources of where and when you are traveling prior to your travel. When making travel plans or prior to traveling, please review the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) Travel & Exposure Related Isolation/Quarantine website to see if your travel destination is on the list for quarantine. Review that website again upon your return home and prior to your return to work. If the place you traveled to is on the KDHE list, you should contact the Shawnee County Health Department (or your local county health department if you live outside of Shawnee County) immediately to determine what you need to do. In this case, you will need to furnish a letter from the Shawnee County Health Department (or other health department) indicating that you are able to return to work or if you must quarantine. If you are quarantined, the letter must include the dates you will be quarantined and the date the quarantine ends. Please follow all guidance from the KDHE and Shawnee County Health Department.

Safety Practices

While employees must practice library safety and health protocols  at work, we strongly encourage employees to practice those same safety and health practices in their personal lives. Actions outside of work can impact your co-workers and their families and possibly put them at risk.

As a reminder those safety and health practices are:

  • Staying home if you are sick.
  • Maintaining social distancing of at least six feet.
  • Washing your hands frequently or use hand sanitizer.
  • Covering your nose and mouth when sneezing or coughing.
  • Wearing a face mask (required at work and strongly recommended away from work).
  • Avoiding touching your face.
  • Replacing handshakes with head nods and waves.
  • Avoiding large crowds and gatherings. Following Shawnee County or your local health department’s recommendations at all times.
  • Being kind to others.

Updates to COVID-19 Safety Resources Page

We are updating the intranet COVID-19 Safety Resources page. Part of that update will include FAQ’s that should help answers questions you might have about what to do in certain situations.

As always, thank you for all you are doing! We truly appreciate all that you do! You have done tremendous work to change the way we work and providing needed services to the community in a safe way. You should all take pride in all you have done to this point and all we will be doing in the future. We have an awesome library because of all of you!

Many thanks,

The COIVD-19 Team
