Summer Learning Activities June 10-16

Here are a few of the special events that the June 10-16 Summer Learning Team has planned. The library has dozens of events that week, so this is just a selection of what is available to customers!

All week long, for everyone: A Trip to the Moon (brief film)

Monday, June 10, 2019 to Sunday, June 16, 2019 | Atrium Movies

Discover A Trip to the Moon, one of the first movies about space. See what was imagined about the moon in 1902 with this short 12 minute silent film. **This brief film will be shown on a continuous loop.

Kids Movie Event with snacks Tuesday at 2 pm – Treasure Planet

Tuesday, June 11, 2019 | 2-4pm | Marvin Auditorium 101BC Movies

Experience the adventure of the Walt Disney film Treasure Planet in a fun filled afternoon complete with popcorn and drawings for the book Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson.

Trivia Hunt Wednesday drop in between 11-3 pm

(Advertised for Teens but anyone can do it including groups and families and solo adults)

Wednesday, June 12, 2019 | 11am-3pm | Tween Area in Youth Services

Use the library to find answers to space related trivia and win a sweet prize! (*The sweet prize is a cookie from the cafe they win on the spot for completing the trivia hunt. We will have 100 cookies so please send people our way so they can participate and win!)

Musical Storytime in Space – Friday at 10 am

Friday, June 14, 2019 | 10-11am | The Story Zone Kids

Shake off your sleepiness with some fun space-themed songs and crazy dancin’ with Kyler. Stick around after the music for activities and crafts.

Father’s Day Make-and-Take Crafts Saturday 10-2 everyone welcome

Saturday, June 15, 2019 | 10am-2pm | The Story Zone Kids

Make unique gifts for your dad or any special person in your life. Draw a picture of you and your dad in space, make a “Best in the Universe!” card.

Retro Space Video Game Tournament Sunday 1-4 everyone welcome

Sunday, June 16, 2019 | 1-4pm | Marvin Auditorium 101BC Kids

Play space-themed video games together and post your high scores on our leaderboard. Kids and their dads are especially encouraged to attend for some friendly competition on Father’s Day. *** Prizes are fidget spinners.
