Whatever happened to the Bluebird? An update with photos

Hey Everyone!

I don’t know about you, but I could use a happy story today.  Remember our trusty, old Bluebird Bookmobile?  We sold it to a local guy earlier this year.  He had planned to transform it into an RV.  However, due to some unexpected circumstances, he and his wife needed to sell it.  They sold our bus to a couple in Bogalusa, Louisiana who turned it into a mobile clothing boutique! Check it out!

Our bus is now The Platinum Pony Traveling Boutique.  Drue and Laura, the boutique owners, motor their pop-up fashion bus across the southeastern US and set-up mainly at local festivals and regional shows.  Here are some photos they sent me:

From bookmobile to fashionmobile, I think it’s nice to see the second life the Bluebird is enjoying with this entrepreneurial couple.

I think our customers would love this story! I also the think the TCJ would love it as a human interest story. I think the focus could be on how we are good stewards of public resources and we always try to dispose of library resources in a way that is responsible and results in some return on the original investment. Another example is how we extend the life of books with our Friends and how the library and its customers benefit from that.

What a great idea–and love the name of the traveling boutique! We should share with them photos of the old bookmobile interior. Bet their customers would like to see that. Thanks for sharing, Scarlett.
