I.          KIDS LIBRARY CAMPAIGN

 

  • Capital campaign to support the Kids Library is in the quiet phase of

soliciting major gifts.

  • With direction from the Foundation’s Fund Development Committee, Kathy Groesbeck is planning the cultivation and gift asks, with assistance from Gina Millsap and Marie Pyko in making face-to-face visits with donor prospects.
  • Goal is to raise $100,000 to fund the five Structural Elements of Phase II for the project [Learnscapes].
  • Recently – Gina, Marie and Kathy made a preliminary cultivation visit to a local corporation.  The meeting was positively received by the committee chair; the end result is that a revised letter will be sent to the committee chair that includes recommendations made during the preliminary meeting.  The revised request for support letter will be submitted in July for consideration at the committee’s August meeting.
  • Wednesday, June 27, 2012 – Kathy Groesbeck and Foundation trustees Becky Holmquist and Julie Schloetzer will make a presentation at the Open Forum of the Junior League of Topeka as it discusses its 75th Anniversary Gift to the Community.  A request for support letter and presentation on the Kids Library will be prepared by Kathy Groesbeck for consideration by the Junior League of Topeka for their 75th Anniversary Gift to the community.   

 

II.        FORM 990 TAX RETURN

 

  • It has been completed by Berberich Trahan and Co. and will be presented and discussed at the Foundation Board meeting on Wednesday, June 20, 2012.
  • The Foundation’s Form 990 will be placed on the Foundation’s website for public viewing. [new]

 

 

 

III.       ANNUAL DIRECT MAIL CAMPAIGN

 

  • Creative work on the Foundation’s end-of-year Annual Direct Mail Campaign will begin in July.
  • The Buy-A-Book Club theme will be continued this year with a new look.
  • Proceeds from the campaign will be used by the library to support collections.

 

IV.       SUMMER INTERN

 

  • Amanda Narverud, a Mass Media student at Washburn University, has begun her Leadership Institute internship this summer with The Library Foundation, starting last Monday, June 11.
  • She will be attending various Foundation meetings, library events and functions, as well as handling some special communications projects.
